I had every intention of publishing a blogpost as per usual on Monday despite the holiday. I went hiking in Kananaskis instead. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
September marks the return to routines and the start of programs, clubs and schedules that summer joyfully knocks out of kilter. My family had a full and wonderful summer but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready for some routines to start up again!
Like writing this blogpost which is a little later than intended, I’m learning to see so many things in life through a more graceful lens. Basically, whether it’s picking up your guitar, eating a healthy lunch, going for a walk – SOMETHING is better than nothing.
Hey! You picked up your guitar! It’s OK that you didn’t write the next big stadium hit today – you worked your fingers and hopefully found joy in the sound.
Hey! You didn’t run a marathon, but you got away from your desk and went for a walk in the beautiful day.
Celebrate these things. As you head into brand new adventures or back into routines that feel like your favourite cozy blanket, find the goodness in the small stuff. Maybe over time your small stuff will grow into bigger stuff. Maybe not. So what? You do what you can with what you’ve got. Yeah! That, my friends, is how we all shine, and hopefully encourage those around us to do the same.
Keep up the good work.
