What can I say about the retreat that took place this past weekend?  Magic happens.

Magic happens when we get out of our daily grind, period.  When we can step away from work and home and family (all of which are or might be good things!)  Physically removing ourselves from our regular surroundings automatically opens a sense of freedom from those ties that allows us, in this case, to give ourselves fully to music making and rest.

This weekend women who did not previously know each other – or know each other well – were thrown into collaboration in a variety of ways.  And there are only two words for how it went.  NAILED IT.

From collaborative performance (some including choreography) with only one hour to prepare to collaborative song-writing, to sharing and blending voices in ancient songs and blessings, to the inevitable jamming into the night, to sharing of stories as songs draw out tears, to laughing until the laughter drew out tears – magic happened.

We missed those who were not able to attend – hopefully the community will be able to gather in numbers through the summer at the Summertime Jams.  (sign up to host!)  Also, the Michael Bernard Fitzgerald song writing workshop is coming up on Monday, June 17.  Information HERE or contact me.  There is no fee, but registration is required.  If you think you’ve registered but aren’t sure, register again or check in with me.

As I am in the middle of wrapping up the 2018-2019 season, I have a lot of things to think about for moving forward.  But on this sleepy Monday morning post-retreat, I want to thank you for being part of this community and for giving me things to think about!  Deep gratitude for the magic, my friends.

Shine on.
